The Eurasian Teal (Common Teal or Eurasian Green-winged Teal) (Anas crecca) is a relatively small dabbling duck that winters in India. The nuptial plumage of the drake is characterised by a chestnut brown head with a characteristic bluish-green comma-shaped broad patch starting from the eyes and reaching up to the neck. The unique colour of this patch on the teal duck is the etymology of the teal colour.
